1. Bolsa Chica State Beach
Bolsa Chica State Beach is a public beach in Orange County, California. It lies north of Huntington Beach and south of Sunset Beach, two tiny settlements near one another. The southern end of the beach has a rocky inlet channel, which is popular for surfing. This beach is home to perch, croaker, cabezon, California corbina, and shovelnose guitarfish. Grunion enter the water at new and full moons during the summer to lay their eggs on the sand. The Bolsa Chica State Ecological Reserve is a state-owned park in Orange County, California, adjacent to the city of Huntington Beach and governed by the state of California. The reserve was established by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife to preserve a coastal wetland and upland, as well as migratory and permanent species of animals and flowers.
The reserve's eastern boundary runs along the western boundary of two additional state agency properties, both of which are administered by Cal Trans and the California State Department of Parks and Recreation. Mile Square Regional Park is a public park in Fountain Valley, California.
